Dance Clash is an energetic, fun filled day event for all the community.

Through exercise and music we will be showcasing everything from ballet to break-dancing and from hip-hop to rock n roll.

We will be dancing through the decades as professional local dancers take centre stage and lead you from the fifties, through to today.

Look out for West coast swing, Peckham Slide, Palm tree dancers, Zumba, Hula Hoop, our dance clash and dance crew Trilogy.

FUNDING INFORMATION

  • Round 3 of   Southwark Council’s Transition Fund is now open, to provide support for (Southwark) VCS organisations facing cuts in their funding – to allow them to make the necessary changes to meet the challenges of the new financial climate in order to develop a more sustainable sector.  Grant up to £25,000.   Deadline: Fri, 21 Oct 2011
  • The Alec Dickson Trust has funding available to assist young people to run a project in their local area that involves local volunteers.
    Grant: £500.
  • The Newcomen Collett Foundation Grant is available for voluntary and community groups in the London borough of Southwark, undertaking projects to further educational and extracurricular activities for young people under the age of 25 years.  Deadline 18 Nov 2011   Grant:£100,000

TRAINING

  • The Southwark Muslim Women’s Association is now situated in the Aylesbury Centre.  Come and see us there!   Thursday 10 am-4 pm.  They will be holding workshops, seminars and talks with various speakers and experts on various aspects of Islam – forthcoming workshops will be:
  • Southwark Pensioners Centre presents Over the Hill, this project is funded by the City Bridge Trust and comprises of a team of older volunteers who have contributed to the development of the training session, by using their ideas and experiences.  The sessions are led by older people, and promote positive attitudes to ageing.

Southwark Council – Transition Fund Round 3 now Open

Round three of   Southwark Council’s Transition Fund is now open.

Southwark Council is providing this fund to   support VCS organisations facing cuts in their funding in Southwark, to allow them to make the necessary changes to meet the challenges of the new financial climate and in order to develop a more sustainable sector.  This pot of money was announced in March 2011, as part of the budget to see organisations through the transition to new more sustainable models of service.
  • Grants:     up to £25,000
  • Deadline: Fri,  21 October 2011 (5pm)

VCS and LVAC Volunteer Management Forum

Volunteer Centre Southwark and Lambeth Voluntary Action Council are hosting their first joint Volunteer Management Forum, by working in collaboration in order to bring groups together from both boroughs to share and discuss issues around involving volunteers. As well as the usual updates we will be focusing on the issues around engaging volunteers whom are looking for work experience, and also sharing learning around how different groups involve volunteers in different ways.

Southwark Pensioners Centre Over the Hill

Over the Hill is a Southwark Pensioners Centre project, funded by the City Bridge Trust.  This project comprises of a team of older volunteers who have contributed to the development of the training session, by using their ideas and experiences.

The sessions are led by older people, and promote positive attitudes to ageing.

The volunteers have developed  their skills as trainers as well as delivers a serious message.  The training sessions are lively, interactive and fun!
They are available free to community organisations, arts, health and social care staff in Southwark, Lambeth and Lewisham.

Alec Dickson Trust

The Alec Dickson Trust has funding available to assist young people to run a project in their local area that involves local volunteers.  The Trusts supports individuals and groups of young people who are able to demonstrate that through volunteering or community service they can enhance the lives of others
