Theatre Local – Peckham 2012

Theatre Local, the project run by the Royal Court Theatre with the aim to take plays to alternative spaces, will be returning to the Bussey Building in Peckham this summer, with two plays and a series of free workshops.

 

They will be kicking off Theatre Local 2012 with Belong a new play by Bola Agbaje followed by Vera Vera Vera by Hailey Squires, which had a sold-out run here at the Royal Court. We are again offering free production workshops for Schools, community groups and local youth groups around the two plays.

Sport Relief & Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund 2012

Purpose:

Your organisation must prove you are working to lift people out of poverty in one of the following areas:

  • Training and educating people who have dropped out of mainstream education
  • Getting people into work such as through apprenticeship or mentor schemes
  • Fighting gangs, knife and gun crime
  • Improving mental and physical health and well-being, such as through sports clubs and helping carers
  • Addressing other manifestations of poverty such as homelessness, pensioner poverty or the working poor.
  • You should also be able to demonstrate community involvement in your project and work.

Priority will be given to:

  • Small, locally based groups or organisations working in areas of disadvantage
  • Organisations demonstrating a clear understanding of the needs of their community

Breast & Bowel Cancer Awareness Training

Breast Cancer Care & Bowel Cancer UK are running a free pilot course promoting breast and bowel health awareness for healthcare professionals, community workers and volunteers

This FREE two day pilot training course, developed by two leading cancer charities is designed to give confidence in delivering breast and bowel awareness messages to groups and individuals.

Topics include:

  • How to be breast/bowel aware
  • Unusual signs and symptoms
  • Breast/bowel cancer risk
  • NHS screening programmes

Bradfield Club Centre Manager

Can you lead a youth centre that has been making a difference to young people’s lives for 100 years?  If so, the Bradfield Club in Peckham is looking for a Centre Manager.

The Bradfield Club is a youth centre that exists to empower young people in Peckham to live life in all its fullness by providing sessions and one-to-one mentoring to enable the Club’s members to be the best they can be in every area of their lives. We work with children and young people aged 4-20. The Club Council are looking to recruit a Centre Manager to lead the organisation into its next phase of growth in order to maximise its impact with the young people in Peckham.

Some of our staff, activities, funding and partners are motivated by the Christian faith and this role would therefore suit somebody sympathetic to it. You will work with the Management Committee to ensure best practises are followed throughout the organisation. This is a full-time position, £35,000 – £40,000 per annum and is subject to an enhanced CRB check. You must be willing to work evenings and occasional weekends.
