Capacity Building
The programme aims to assist member organisatins to improve their skills, knowledge and competencies which are necessary for developing structures, systems, policies and procedures that are essential for their strategic direction and long-term sustainability
To be successful, an organisation should always be aware of its position at any particular time in relation to other groups in the sector in which they are operating. Much like driving a car, the more the driver is aware of situation around him/her the more likely he/she will complete the intended journey satisfactorily. Your organisation will therefore need to know about the key factors and attributes of organisational success and be aware of its strengths and weaknesses.
The PVSF approach to capacity building is that we work with a minimum of three people from the organisation, its trustees, volunteers or paid staff rather than just one individual, as the purpose of the programme is to strengthen the organisation as a whole

50+ CAN BENEFIT FROM CARE2WORK SUPPORT
Wise Owls can now offer 50+ clients a package of individualised support including training and work experience to help them into work who lives in the borough. This support is available to everyone who is and has been caring for a dependent or member of their family, who are looking for work but are not in receipt of Job Seeker Allowance and it’s FREE.
Because of our great success in recruiting, advising, training and job matching over 50s clients through our innovative Care2Work scheme, our funders (London Councils and ESF) firstly extended our contract to 11 boroughs and then subsequently to cover both Carers and non-carers. Now we have had our contract extended so that we can offer support to aged 50+ carers and ex-carers across London which means that clients living in your borough are eligible to benefit from our successful package of individual support from London’s first and leading specialists in helping the over 50s.
One to One client support includes:
§ Advice & Guidance from a sympathetic professional
§ Personalised Job-Matching support, introducing clients to jobs and employers and looking for suitable jobs for clients
§ Personalised training & support matching to help clients to find the training and support needed for them to progress as they want
§ Work experience/ volunteering helping clients who are interested in getting experience of work in the sector/ job they are interested in
§ Employability training in special one day training sessions such as ‘Dress for Success’
§ ‘Meet the Employer’ days, where employers from a specific sector meet with potential candidates
§ Regular Job Clubs where clients can research jobs, including using our online computers and accessing our 2 websites with hundreds of vacancies and a portal to dozens of employment sites

Funding Information
Funding Central is a free smart website for charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises. The site provides access to thousands of funding and finance opportunities, plus a wealth of tools and resources supporting organisations to develop sustainable income strategies appropriate to their needs. It is relatively user friendly, with two search level options, i.e. Guided Search and Advanced Search. The Guided Search, as the name implies, takes the individual step by step through the search process, whilst the Advanced Search allows you to navigate the process yourself.
In addition to Grants, Contracts and Loan Finance, the database includes information on training and events and useful information on related subjects. There are lots of contracts from Statutory Organisations, for which tenders are invited. You can also access advice on how to tender and negotiate contracts and download practical tools that can help you weigh up the relevant risks and benefits.
In the section on Loan Finance you can explore the benefits of Loan Finance and assess your organisation’s readiness to take out a loan to finance your future development.
The address for the Funding database is http://www.fundingcentral.org.uk/Default.aspx - On entry you will see the dashboard with labels for; Grants, Contracts; Loan Finance; Training and Events and News. Click on the chosen label and follow the instructions. At some stage during the process you will be asked for your personal details, which will be remembered in future providing the same computer is used. Should you experience any difficulties, feel free to contact NCVO on 020 7520 2523, e/mail: fundingcentral@ncvo-vol.org.uk
