FUNDING INFORMATION

  • The Edgar E Lawley Foundation current annual grants programme amounts to approximately £250,000 per annum.  The Foundation supports six broad areas including children and young people.  31 Oct 2011
  • Local Network Partnerships Fund have established a one-off £1million fund to support capacity building activities that will help people to prepare for applying to be recognised as a Local Nature Partnership later in 2012.

SE15 NEWS

  • The South London Apprenticeship Fair (SLAF) 2011 will be the first event of its kind in South London it is brought to you by Offbeat.  This is an apprenticeship and recruitment fair for young people, run by young people.  Tues, 25 Oct 2011.
  • The Riots Communities and Victims Panel, officially launched on 16 September 2011 and is now calling for evidence. It will take a grass-roots approach, listening to the experiences of those in communities affected by the riots as well as hearing from academics, key debates and other reviews into the disorder.
  • The Local Accountancy Project has served Voluntary Sectors for 23 years and helps organisations to look ahead of their goals and remove the of fears, uncertainty and anticipated problems ahead of time and improve your financial capability.
  • Aaina Women’s Group has a room for hire, it has wooden flooring and can seat upto 18 people.  This would be suitable for anyone who wishes to host a small seminar or function.

PVSF’s LEAFLETS, POSTERS & ANNUAL REPORTS WORKSHOP

PVSF is running a Leaflets, Posters & Annual Reports workshop.  This is the final workshop (for 2011)will cover the ‘best practices’ for content and design of leaflets, posters and annual reports.

  • Marc Green, Freelance Designer at EdBus.com, will give a talk about how  to print newsletter in-house on a minimal budget using Microsoft Publisher.
  • David Reid, Coordinator for PVSF will also discuss what the required contents of an annual report are.
  • We will outline the elements required to create successful marketing printed material e.g. the ‘marketing message’, essential information and a call to action.

The Workshop is part of  PVSF’s innovative Making Connections Marketing Project aimed at community and voluntary organisations.   Topics will include:

FUNDING INFORMATION

  • Round 3 of   Southwark Council’s Transition Fund is now open, to provide support for (Southwark) VCS organisations facing cuts in their funding – to allow them to make the necessary changes to meet the challenges of the new financial climate in order to develop a more sustainable sector.  Grant up to £25,000.   Deadline: Fri, 21 Oct 2011
  • The Alec Dickson Trust has funding available to assist young people to run a project in their local area that involves local volunteers.
    Grant: £500.
  • The Newcomen Collett Foundation Grant is available for voluntary and community groups in the London borough of Southwark, undertaking projects to further educational and extracurricular activities for young people under the age of 25 years.  Deadline 18 Nov 2011   Grant:£100,000

TRAINING

  • The Southwark Muslim Women’s Association is now situated in the Aylesbury Centre.  Come and see us there!   Thursday 10 am-4 pm.  They will be holding workshops, seminars and talks with various speakers and experts on various aspects of Islam – forthcoming workshops will be:
  • Southwark Pensioners Centre presents Over the Hill, this project is funded by the City Bridge Trust and comprises of a team of older volunteers who have contributed to the development of the training session, by using their ideas and experiences.  The sessions are led by older people, and promote positive attitudes to ageing.

FUNDING INFORMATION

  • The Bright Ideas Trust is intended to help London-based young entrepreneurs aged 16-30, addressing the issue of first-time businesses. 
  •  B&Q Waste Donation Scheme throughout  all their UK stores.  B&Q donates unsaleable products, such as decorating materials. 
  •  The Austin and Hope Pilkington Trust awards grants to charitable organisations in the UK, working in areas with, music, children, youth, elderly, medical and community.  Closing date: 1 Nov 2011.
  • Team London Small Grants are available for voluntary sector organisations, who wish to increase the impact of their volunteering activities, to submit an expression of interest. Closing date: 15 Aug 2011.

  • Team London Small Grants Programme is open to voluntary organisations operating in London to support their volunteering activities and address social needs. 
  • Mrs Smith and Mount Trust Grant is available to registered charities in London, assisting disadvantaged people towards greater independence.  Closing date 30 September 2010.

  • Big Lottery – Improving Financial Confidence Grant – The Improving Financial Confidence Grant is available to organisations helping people lacking access to basic financial services to develop their financial capabilities.  Closing date: 16 September 2011.

  • PVSF Making Connections Photography Workshop – Peckham Voluntary Sector Forum (PVSF) is running a ‘Photography for Community & Voluntary Groups’ workshop as part of its innovative Making Connections Marketing Project.  Date: 29 June 2011.

  • PAL Arts Project - PAL promotes innovative thinking with artists from all disciplines. ‘If not you, who else’ – is an Arts Project with PAL and they are looking for 16 young people aged between 18 and 30, to work alongside 6 professional artists. You will make your own artistic projects with different communities and neighbourhoods.  Closing date: 4 July 2011.
  • Ethnic Minority Cancer Awareness Week - The EMCAW, Breast Cancer Care is reaching black and minority ethnic communities by hosting a Cancer Awareness Open Day in Southwark.  Date: 15 July 2011.
  • Black Business Initiatives (BBI) Youth Enterprise Game Award – YEGA is an annual youth enterprise competition which provides an opportunity for young adults to test their entrepreneurial skills and get their business/project ideas off the ground.  Application closing date: 31 August 2011.  Awards: 29 October 2011.
