Community Development Training Organisation is running a free introduction to Hair and Beauty Care for young people and adults

Young Parents Course

Strengthening Families, Strengthening Community Programme is a 13 week parenting course for young parents or parents-to-be aged 16-19 years.  The course provides support, tips and strategies for bringing up children as well as information on employment, education, housing, childcare and benefits.

Course start date:  Enrolment up until 28 February 2013.

Level 1 Sports Course for 16-24

Let Me Play will be launching a sports course for young people not in employment, education or training this April at the

Course Start Date: Monday 15 April 2013.  (Open Days to find out more about the course on Tuesday 19, Tuesday 26 March or Tuesday 2 and Tuesday 9 April at 12 noon.)

Other Course Details:  12 week programme is 5 days a week and young people will receive 5 qualifications at the end of the course including NVQ Sports and Fitness, a certificate in sport and a FA Futsal Coaching Award.  The course also includes sports tournaments and participants will receive discounted travel, a tracksuit and breakfast every morning.

Sports Coaching and Events Training

A basketball and athletic coaching programme for 16-24 year olds would like to give 30 young people a chance to gain a qualification in coaching and event management.

The six weeks course requires young people to attend two sessions each week. Both sessions are in the evening so as not to interfere with other commitments young people may have. The course is free and in addition to the coaching qualifications, participants also get to play and be coached in real basketball sessions by professional players and coaches, while also planning your own event which you’ll run at the end of the project!

Southwark Libraries Recruiting Youth Champions

Southwark Libraries are inviting young people aged 13 -17 to join Southwark Libraries Young Champions.

The group will meet on Thursday 14 February at Peckham Library to share ideas and discuss how to improve library service for young people.

Identifying Abuse Linked to Faith or Belief

The Victoria Climbié Foundation seeks to empower and equip frontline workers with the tools to identify and respond appropriately to abuse linked to faith or belief. This is done by adopting a practical approach alongside legislation and guidance to raise awareness around harmful practices such as witchcraft and spirit possession.

Jobs For Young People In Arts Sector

Do you know any young people who may be interested in working in the arts and heritage sector?

Applications are now open for the second round of our exciting training scheme, Strengthening Our Common Life by nurturing heritage skills (SOCL2).  We are looking for 14 exceptional candidates for paid placements in heritage organisations including British Museum, Museum of London, Bristol Galleries, Museum and Archives, National Museum of Royal Navy in Portsmouth, Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums and National Trust, in north west England. 

Trainees work on a range of activities including exhibitions, community engagement and collection management.  The programme is accredited and trainees are expected to achieve a Level Three Diploma in Cultural Heritage.

The scheme is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund’s ‘Skills for the Future’ programme set up to increase the pool of skilled workers in the heritage sector.
