• Use your knowledge of current policy to enhance your chances of securing funding
• Identify key policies relevant to your work and where to find out more
• Interpret commonly used funding jargon
• Identify the most common errors which cause bids to fail
• Explain the relevance of scoring and assessment criteria
• Score funding bids
• List some of the key funding regimes and sources of information
• Recognise the significance of funding guidelines

Note:  This is not primarily a course about where to get funding

FUNDING

• Southwark Youth Commissioning and IAG department is inviting applications for grant funding to voluntary and community organisations whose provision is based in Southwark, to provide a programme for young Southwark residents aged 13-19.  Grant: £10,000-£50,000. Deadline: 1pm, Fri, 24 Feb 2012.
• The Southwark EnviroGrant scheme is offering funding for community projects .  This will be the 2nd second year that Veolia Environmental Services has managed this funding opportunities. Grant: up to £1000. Deadline: 31 Mar 2012.

TRAINING

• Creative innovation is running an e-Business start-up training and is specifically designed to equip those who wish to start a business on the Internet.  The training will teach you all you need to know about starting your first internet business.  Date: 27 & 29 Feb 2012.  Time: 10am-3.30pm
• Sickle Cell & Young Stroke Survivors invites individuals who are affected by sickle cell to a Sickle Cell Nutrition workshop which aims to help people with this condition gain improved knowledge about  eating healthier .  Date: 16 Feb 2012.  Time: 11am – 3pm
• Community Action Southwark (CAS)  will shortly be delivering our annual course of Trustee Inductions.  These sessions are a great introduction to trusteeship for new trustees, and a skills refresher for experienced trustees.

• Southwark Arts Forum (SAF)  will be hosting the Creative Solidarity Network Event, this is a series of events where people come together to discuss developments in the art world, share experiences from their respective practices and learn from peers.  Date: 16 Feb 2012.  Time: 6pm-9pm
• Starlight Music Academy is hosting a free anti gangs/knife/guns event open to young people aged 13- 25 who want to succeed in life. Lots of entertainment and fun packed activities. Date: 25 Feb 2012  Time: 12 noon
• Peckham Town Centre will be having a celebration event, to celebrate the results of some of the  hard work over several years to improve Peckham town centre. Date: 14 Mar 2012.  Time: 7pm-9pm.
