We would like the community of Peckham and Nunhead to support the achievements of young people from the Peckham BMX Club and for the development of a new and bigger training facility at Burgess Park for these youngsters.
Why you should support this campaign?

- To develop more facilities for young people in Peckham and Southwark
- To get a 2012 Olympic champion for Peckham
How can you help?

There’s an old saying that “the best gifts we can give our children are roots, then wings. Our children are the pride of our country, don't deny them they are our future.
I think it is absolutely essential that our youngsters are given full backing and the opportunity to be given the chance that they can achieve something worthwhile in their lives, teaching them fundamental discipline and morals at the same time. They obviously enjoy the sport so help them to achieve world status, they are good for our country.
It is a wonderful thing to see youngsters striving to excel in a sport that will be beneficial to them individually, and also bring pride to the community as a whole.
I believe it's an opportunity to promote our youngster with their skills as it enables them to divert their energy to a worthwhile cause with the chance of winning medals hopefully in the nearest future.

We run a furniture reuse project which is located at the Ledbury Estate not far from the location of the BMX training site. It is amazing to see how many children and youngster make use of the Peckham BMX site which is the best indication there there is a real need for this time of project. As a Peckham citizen I full-heartedly support the BMX project and activities which seems to tick every available target and benefit with regard to provide better quality of life for children, give them access to leisure and sport activities, crime prevention and healthy lifestyle. Because I see that the site in Peckham is so well adopted by youngsters I also support the idea to have more similar facilities developed in other areas, e.g. Burgess Park and Peckham Rye.
Many of these youngsters live in poor, ignored Peckham with no social facilities for youngsters or others in the town centre - so they deserve to have some money spent on them for a change - especially if enables them to mix with and compete with other youngsters from other parts of London, the UK, and internationally!
Peckham has a unique opportunity to be the first London borough to have a full size BMX racing track that will provide Peckham youths with the right tools to improve skills and develop professionally. Peckham BMX Club having now 2 Olympic talents inducted into the Olympic Development Program. This level of achievement should be matched by equal levels of commitment from the council and the community. Our young people have worked hard for it and deserve it.
Peckham have proved they have the know how, and the comitment to not only produce top riders, (enough to make them the #1 club last year), but also to put on well run events. A National standard track would not only aid rider developement towards 2012, but potentially capture a UK National event, to promote Peckham itself as well as the club...
Peckham club members have achieved so much, just from training on our Tiny Track, yet they still have so much more to give...
Let our kids have the track they so deserve
The BMX riders who displayed at Canal Bridge Green Fayre last year were amazing - and the crowd at the fayre thought so too. Would be really good to see better BMX facilities in Peckham - and to see how well these riders can do...
I was at the Peckham BMX meeting on Sunday 26/04/09 and was so impressed with the day. It was great to see so many young people ride, play and talk to each other. The atmosphere was wonderful and it felt like a large picnic in the park. Well done to everyone that helped to organized the day. You need every help to grow and have room to help more.A GRANDMOTHER
There's some great riders at Peckham and they need at bigger track to train on to bring them on even more
Most definitely yes to this facility
This is a good opportunity to give young people that are interested in BMX riding the space and more facilities to focus their interest in something they enjoy doing.
Yes, yes, yes this club, neighbourhood, borough needs this facility.
Initiatives like this that encapsulate the huge potential and range of skills that exist in the young people of Peckham deserve support from all corners especially the media and local authority. There is no better way to motivate the youth of today than by showing them what their peers are doing and encouraging them to get behind them and/or get involved. As a young Peckham resident it has my full support.
